Another beautiful sunny day in Tucson. Mid-40s overnight and rising to mid-60s today. It is actually warmer at home than it is here! We bundled up and drove to the Julian Wash Greenway section of the Loop.
We saw this sign early on.
Fortunately, the venomous creatures must have burrowed in on this chilly morning!
The scenery on this section of the Loop was great. Many areas of desert landscaping to enjoy.
As we passed the Tucson International Airport we saw what appeared to be an old airplane graveyard. Wonder what that’s all about. Spare parts maybe?
Enjoyed watching a very long train go by. They have double-decker rail cars out here!
Here’s our turnaround point.
We rode for a bit along these huge culverts that must be for flood control. The slopes on them reminded me of skate board parks
Back at the parking lot we noticed this awesome bike repair station. It has a repair stand, an air pump, and a wide selection of tools. A+ again Tucson Loop
Walked over to the Botanical Gardens since they are quite close to the Casa. Surprised to discover that we had to cross a busy 4 lane speedway to get there but we managed!
The garden exhibit was beautiful, recreating/evoking the gardens at Frida’s home, Casa Azul.
Tom braved the butterfly house and had one great picture to show for it.
We enjoyed the photography of Nicholas Murphy exhibit as well. Here are two pictures of his pictures. This is the point where we were starting to get a bit chilly and the indoor exhibit was welcome!
We had just the right amount of time to explore the rest of the Botantical Garden before our 6 PM dinner reservation.
6 PM arrived and the Botanical Garden restaurant was hopping with many people there to enjoy the small plates of Frida Kahlo inspired dishes. Many people meant that the indoor seating was full so it was the patio for us – brrrrr! They did move us part way through dinner to a table that opened up under a big patio heater. That was most welcome! Food was so-so but all in all we had a great time. One final exhibit on our way out
