We spent an afternoon and the following morning at Kennedy Space Center on our way to GA. It was not at all crowded and the exhibits are really well done. First stop was the bus tour which brings you to the Apollo/Saturn V center. The Saturn V Rocket dominates the building and there was a really good docent giving tours.
Next up was Atlantis and very well done history of the shuttle missions. hard to believe that the first shuttle flew 40 years ago!
The next morning we toured the Rocket Garden where old rockets and replicas are planted; again with an excellent tour guide. NASA Now and Next was our final stop. Interesting to see the collaborative efforts with private companies and the technologies in use now and planned for deep space exploration. I expect we have some future space travelers in the family!
We have a gorgeous house in Brunswick with a really nice front porch. That porch was much needed after our bike ride on Jekyll Island. It wasn’t terribly long – about 15 miles – but the usual blazing sun and some pretty strong headwinds when we started out. The bike trail around the island is really nice. There are a few bike rental companies so plenty of people riding various types of bikes. There were plenty of opportunities for beach access. Driftwood Beach was one of the best.
