We waited for the temperature to rise a bit to take Pearl out for a final spin in Sedona. This is primarily mountain biking territory and it must be fantastic for that crowd. There’s a mountain bike festival in the area this week-end so we’ve seen quite a few of them around with their knobby tires and mud caked bikes – they’re all super bad-ass looking; maybe in my next life 🙂 We drove to Dry Creek Road in West Sedona. Amazing scenery there but today the road was lined on both sides with cars and there was heavy traffic and very little in the way of shoulder. Rode that for a bit and then turned off onto Thunder Mountain Road. Ah, much more peaceful. Took a spin down a loop road named Gunsmoke and saw some gorgeous houses with magnificent views. Stopped for a bit at the Thunder Mountain trail head.
Ended with a drive out Page Springs Road and then back into Oak Creek. Coming down 179 into Oak Creek is just magnificent. We’ve driven into the Village many, many times now but are always wowed by that vista.
Decided to do the bike breakdown today so we will have tomorrow free for a hike. Hike for me means an easy trail that the Grandmas and toddlers enjoy. There are a couple here that will give us some good quality time with the Red Rocks. Had to do the breakdown out in the driveway and that would have been fine except the wind is absolutely howling today. Temperature is in the 50s but feels a whole lot colder with that wind. This sure has been a cold trip and now it looks like Massachusetts is back to seasonal temps just in time for us to come home. Oh well, has still been wonderful! Had to snap a picture of dinner – we did a pretty good job of refrigerator surprise!
