Ubered to a pick up a rental car this morning, had our ususal stop, picked up sandwiches in a Russian Deli and then headed out to Torrey Pines Nature Reserve
Torrey Pines are different looking all right. Kind of curly
We took a spin through the very tiny visitor center and met this guy. Fortunately he was in a good mood today. A view over the marshes
Saw this interesting ivy-like vine that looked like it really didn’t belong there
We headed down the 3/4 mile walk to the beach. Now 3/4 miles doesn’t sound all that bad but it’s very steep and sandy. There were stairs occasionally but they were scarier than the path sometimes so that .75 miles seemed like a long way. Views on the way were great
Finally, we made it! Gorgeous beach, lots of people walking, biking, playing in the water. We ate 1/2 of our Russian sandwiches (Yum) and walked around a bit and then started the climb back. Burned some calories on that climb!
Stopped for some luggage at a Container Store and bought amazing new baggolini bag. There will be a fee for borrowing this one so think carefully before asking Sarah & Katie!
Staying at Holiday Inn Express by airport tonight and looks like we will return to Boston tomorrow. Always happy to be home but I sure wish it was just a bit warmer!
San Diego summary: excellent city to visit, enough to do here that we were entertained for 9 days. Decent biking infrastructure and drivers are very considerate. Weather is unbelievably good! Culture seems very friendly and laid back. Plenty of coffee shops!
