Good-bye Clarksdale, Hello Memphis

Had breakfast at the Bluesberry cafe and enjoyed their Sunday blues show featuring Watermelon Slim

Time to head for Memphis, but we really enjoyed Clarksdale. They do a nice job of welcoming the tourists into their music clubs and restuarants – great music and food in a friendly atmosphere.

Uneventful trip to Memphis where we are staying at the Sleep Inn right in downtown. Lyfted ourselves to the National Civil Rights Museum caused it was crazy hot and sunny. The museum is at the Lorraine Motel and is very well done. We were there about 2 hours before closing but had to rush through at the end

This is probably the closest we will get to Elvis as neither of us is all that keen on Graceland and it would take quite a bit of time to go there

We made our way to Beale Street sice we had a reservation for dinner at Itta Bena, named for town where B.B. King was born.

It was delightful to leave the madness of Beale St for a fantastic dinner in a cool quiet oasis above the B.B. King blues club. I had the upscale version of chicken and waffles and am sending apologies to the Peabody Hotel ducks. Listened to some music in the downstairs club afterwards. OK but no Clarksdale
