The crossroads tour begins

We left Boston on a gorgeous sunny day and landed in Memphis around 3:30, Central Time Zone. Picked up our little red Kia rental car and headed to Clarksdale Mississippi, home to many historical Blues sites and several blues museums. We were very fortunate to stay at the Delta Digs one of three renovated studio apartment rentals right in downtown Clarksdale. John, the owner, met us with a key and recommendations for food and local music. I was and continue to be wowed by the decor

We settled in and then had an excellent dinner at Yazoo Pass.  Around *;30 we headed over to Red’s Lounge, a local juke joint that looks like it falling apart from the outside but is warm and welcoming on the inside. We were lucky to get a couple of seats on some rickety bar stools as the place was small and packed. The main performer was the son of a woman who I think may have been the owner.  Christone Kingfish Ingram is damned good, the $4 cold beers were great, and it was a wonderful introduction to Clarksdale MS.
