Let’s play the find the campsite game!

We left Toronto around 9:30 and headed for Sandbanks Provincial Park in Prince Edward County. We were fortunate to have a gotten a space in their newly opened West Lake campground but didn’t really know what to expect as there was not much info available about that particular campground. We stopped at the Bloomfield Bicycle Company to get a cycling map for PEC and then at the Chamber of Commerce in Picton. Fortunately, we also stopped for a late lunch and to pick up some groceries. As we neared Sandbanks we saw the signs saying that it was full which is typical in the summer and exhacerbated this year by the closing of some beach areas due to flooding.   There was a bit of confusion on our part at the gate and we missed a quick and very critical turn to our campground. There was no sign to clue us in and it was quite a bit later when we realized that we had gone wrong. No big except that there was complete gridlock heading back to the gate and thunderstorms threatening. Nothing to do but enter the gridlock and wait it out.

We got back to the turn but had to embark on a real hunt to find the campground as there were absolutely no signs for the West Lake campground including at its entrance! I was a tad taken ababck when we did find it because it seems way more geared to an RV setup and there is not a lick of shade in sight.

On the plus side, we have electricity and the nearby bathhouse is really nice. Once we had it set up we were pretty sweaty but feeling better about things and we tossed together an awesome dinner salad with haloumi cheese and enjoyed that with our usual camping boxed wine.

We were rewarded with a lovely sunset
