Bingo!

The hotel in Cleveland had a great evening drinks and snacks set-up from 5:30 to 7:00. It was really more of a dinner than just snacks – so that’s what we did for dinner both nights that we were there. We got a perfect score on our drinks cards as well.

Yesterday was nothing much more than a 6 hour drive to Ludington, MI so that we could be in line at 8AM for the car ferry to Manitowac WI this morning. The ferry is the SS Badger, which has been sailing Lake Michigan since 1953 and is the last coal fired passenger ferry in the country. The trip across the lake takes 4 hours and I was questioning the paltry entertainment options that I had brought on board when this started

They ran a very creative bingo game in the main lounge for most of the trip. Jeannie managed to win checkerboard bingo scoring a really nice beach bag and Tom won a basic bingo and got a deck of cards. At one point they gave trivia a try and of course Tom ended up in a fierce competition with another table and the game was eventually called as a draw with both contestants being awarded a bag of their famous popcorn. That was the end of trivia but hey, they were asking things like the square root of 36 and what city La Guardia Airport is in so maybe they do need to stick to bingo!

The 4 hours flew by so hats off to the SS Badger for excellent ferry entertainment! We stopped in Manitowoc to do some laundry and were happy to also find a really nice coffee shop. Arrived at Lodge Kohler in Green Bay where we will be for 2 nights. As you would expect, the bathroom is quite nice!

Apparently we are next to some very famous football stadium and there is a fake hill right outside our windows that you might want to visit if it wasn’t 94 degrees and very sunny!

For those readers who follow football, the main entrance to the stadium is just past the training hill and is labelled “Titletown”. The hotel and stadium are on Lombardi Way, and the Wifi password is definitely football related. The room rate in this hotel on home-game weekends is about 3x what it is on normal occasions. I’m sure that we will encounter a cheese-head or two while we are here. 🙂

Had a nice swim in the pool this afternoon and then headed up to the restaurant for dinner. I guess they were pretty booked up so asked if sitting outside would be ok. We had showered so I really do think they were all booked. Patio outside was lovely but the entertainment was loud and not the best. We managed to enjoy ourselves anyway!
