On the road at 8 this morning; we are gradually waking up earlier and earlier. We just took a ride into Saint Francois and then out to Point de Chateaux; 13 miles total. The Pointe is much quieter in the morning. We sat for a while and watched the waves crashing in
We were back at the bungalow by 10 and had heard that Tony would be cooking lunch for all of us today so that gave us a couple of hours to kill. Not far from the bungalow, at the end of the street is a path to Anse Tarare, one of the nudist beaches on Guadeloupe. We can tell that it’s popular given the volume of traffic down this little road in the morning and late afternoon. We packed some towels and water and took the short walk down to the beach. Yup, a whole lot of naked sunbathing and playing in the waves was happening. All sorts of ages and many couple so a very easy scene to join. We found a nice spot under a tree and had a couple of swims and some time with our books.
Back at the bungalow, we were unsure if the lunch thing was on but after our shower our neighbors invited us over for a beverage. They have a bit of english so we manage very, very limited conversations. It was clear that they were waiting for Tony as well and we all had a lovely time enjoying the breeze and doing some light day drinking. Around 1Pm Tony and Natalie’s middle daughter showed up on her bicycle and set the porch table at the one empty bungalow – seemed like a good sign! Tony arrived around 1:30 and proceeded to set out an impressive array of pretty serious looking alchohol and then served us an absolutely delicious meal
It was a leisurely and wonderful lunch! Lunch ended with a round or tow of Tony’s homemade rum liquor
Over the course of our pre and lunch conversations we learned that the 2 guys (roughly our age?) next door are just friends with the older couple that arrived a few days ago – we had assumed they were family. They met at the Tarare beach a few years ago. The woman just celebrated her 86th birthday and has a son who is a river guide in Colorado. Such a friendly bunch with great tolerance for our crappy american language skills.
We’ll have a quiet night in the bungalow I expect. Start sipping wine early and have a late dinner and then off to bed…. Tomorrow’s our last day in Guadeloupe
