Wednesday morning, back to Yazoo Pass for breakfast where I had the first of what I expect will be MANY biscuits. God I love biscuits and Yazoo Pass did not disappoint! After breakfast we walked to the Delta Blues Museum .
What a delight! We were there for quite awhile enjoying the many exhibits. No photography allowed unfortunately.
We wandered around Clarksdale for a bit popping into various art shops. Art shops makes the town sound fancy. It is not. There are small pockets of renovation like the studio we are in the museum, and a couple of restaurants but that’s about it. What you quickly learn here is to not judge a book by it’s cover. There are some real gems behind some gritty looking exteriors including our lunch stop at the Ground Zero Cafe. Also a live music venue serving up a $10 lunch plate special that includes dessert. The hamburg steak with gravy and onions was delicious! I should have gotten an outside picture but I’ll have to cheat and use a photo I found online. The interior shot is mine.
King Biscuit had a loose Wednesday Warmup going on. We actually managed to park right on Main St in Helena and strolled in to the festival area. Some of the vendors were set up and there was a jam on the main stage that went on until about 10 that night. All very loose, not crowded.
I loved this sign as we had already encountered lots of Southern hospitality and friendliness
We got set up our travelling festival chairs really close to the stage cause they had not blocked off the full VIP area yet. That’s kind of a bummer, the VIP area. You pay quite a bit more for privilege of sitting there and I guess special parking. I prefer Briggs where they do VIP camping areas but leave stage access completely open
