This time we really did do a short ride but it was driven more my tired butts and being somewhat worn down by blazing sun and humidity. The riding in PEC is wonderful but there really is almost no shade and it seems like clouds are rare as well. Gets real hot in those helmets! We drove to Wellington and took Pearl for an 18 mile spin through some more gorgeous scenery out to Hyuck’s point. This time we scored a small but delightful view at the end of the road
We picked up a bottle of wine, a baguette, and some corn and, as always, planned on cooking some dinner. Back at the campground we finally packed up our chairs and headed for a Sandbanks beach. The Dunes beach is a small one but walking distance from the campground and just delightful. Water was really warm and shallow
So nice that we stayed until after 5 and by the time we walked back and showered….well, we had corn, baguette, some cheese and were very happy with that. Our last night did turn rather eventful when an insane thunderstorm came through around 4AM. Lots of wind, lightening, torrential rain. That was pretty much the end of sleeping so we got up as soon as it was light and were on the road by 8:30.
