We arrived in Tandragee Friday around noon and were treated to a wonderful barbecue and visit with Lara, Sarah, and Molly. Wish I had taken some pictures but will make sure I do so when we see them tomorrow for lunch at the Potbelly pig. A beautiful morning dawned today (Saturday) but there was an ominous forecast for rain, thunder and hail in the afternoon. We crossed our fingers, grabbed our raincoats and headed for Castlewellen Forest Park
First up, here’s the castle
We opted to do the walk around the lake and as we started encountered quite the scene with sea scouts and their homemade barrel boats launching into the lake
The park walk was just beautiful.
The walk finished up with a delightful lunch of baked potatoes with baked beans and salad. Wow! That is a serious taste treat!
With the sun still shining but some nasty clouds threatening, we drove to Newcastle. Wonderful beach town. We had a great walk on the boardwalk and then stopped for an ice cream. The heavens opened just as we were getting our cones so we ate them inside. Still raining as we made our way to the car and then the fun really began with a massive hailstorm
When the hail abated, Maurice took us home through the Mourne mountains. Absolutely gorgeous day!
