After a shower we took the tablet to use the wifi at the coffee shop so we could send a couple of emails about our primitive state and look for a local Verizon store. We located a store in Elizabeth City and took a drive up there with our very dead phones. Short story is Tom got a new phone which he needed anyway and mine can be cobbled together to hopefully last another few months until I can upgrade.
Now the real fun. We had seen something about a Catfish Hunter museum in Hertford which would be on our way back so I used Tom’s new phone to do some research on the way. Turns out it is a tiny exhibit in the Chamber of Commerce and would be closed on our arrival but they also mentioned a pharmacy with some memorabilia and 69 cent ice cream cones!
Woodard’s was a classic small town pharmacy with a very busy soda fountain. Tom insisted on a Large cone so it was 79 cents for that and I had a root beer float bringing us to a total of $2.44. Not a bad deal! We walked around the block with our ice creams and ran into a couple of other NC Cycle riders that were hoping to visit the museum. Chatted with them for a while and then visited the Catfish memorial
