Lazy day with some tandem magic at the end

Did our now usual morning ride to Saint Francois around 8:30ish. Saw 58 cyclists in the ten miles we rode! We’re guessing about 40 of those were unique as many cyclists ride out to Pointe de Chateaux and back. Remarkable!

Cleaned up and went to the municipal beach in Saint Francois, Les Raisins Clairs. Just gorgeous. Laid on the sand for a bit and played in the water. Discovered that topless applies to both genders on Guadeloupe but did not join in fearing sunburn and being left stranded by Tom. Had lunch at the restaurant on the beach. Tom did an outstanding job at being French; got us seated, apologized for his small amount of French, and ordered very competently! We are paving the way for Americans to come; don’t screw it up people!

Now the magic. Natalie asked last night if we would bring the bike to one of the Tony family restaurants to show Tony’s 93 year old father. He had seen us riding and was very interested. Cycled down there at 4 as they were closing up and just enjoying some family time on the deck. “Papi” was enthralled and a few  Tony brothers enjoyed it as well. We had a juice, took some pictures, and showed off Pearl’s features with Natalie on hand to translate into both Creole and French. Thanks Pearl, I know we will make many new friends because of you as we travel!
