So here we are, trapped in San Diego as the blizzard rages through Boston. Well, let’s just make the best of it. We started the day with a two hour harbor cruise
The cruise boats are parked right next to the Midway which is the big feature in the Maritime Museum
The first hour was in the North Harbor, passing under the bridge to Coronado. You could really see what a big port San Diego is. Lots of docks and ship building activity.
I was a bit confused when we pulled back into the pier after an hour. They alternate South and North hour long harbor tours and if you book the 2 hour tour you just stay on for both – ah, that makes sense! We loaded up some more tourists and headed for the South Harbor. This time we got a view of all the military bases and the large number of recreational boats in the bay
We also saw the banana boat that comes in every week from Ecuador.
I liked all of the seagulls around this live bait boat as it dumped its remaining load of bait before returning to the harbor
We decided to visit Seaport Village which is a shopping and dining area along the harbor. We got a quick lunch and then attempted to do some shopping but it really was mostly tacky crap. Sorry girls, I refuse to bring back tacky crap for you but I do have a few presents from the farmers market – that may just have to suffice.
While we ate we planned out tomorrow’s activity. Stopped for our usual coffee on the way back. We are making the most of every opportunity to sit outside!
Picked up some provisions for dinner and are now back doing a bit of laundry and tucked in for the night.
