We woke up around 7:30 and enjoyed a Folgers coffee and a bit of brochure reading before heading to Zanzibar for breakfast. Zanzibar is a wine bar and restuarant by night and serves up a killer breakfast in the morning. After breakfast we walked down to the harbor and spent quite a bit of time walking around.
There’s a park and wide promenade all along the harbor. This art installation was very cool and quite popular
Here’s some other scenes from the park and harbor
Hard to believe, but after walking around for a while we both found ourselves pretty hot and sweaty as we headed back to the flat. We stopped for an iced coffee at this well named establishment. AN ICED COFFEE IN FEBRUARY!!!!
We decided to take a trolley tour to get a quick overview of the city and then go grocery shopping to stock the fridge. We hopped on an Old Town Trolley, same Trolley company that operates in Boston. Great ride, but they unfortunately play song snippets at “appropriate” moments. Don’t remember that in Boston and it was rather annoying. Did give us really good overview and an opportunity to hop off in Old Town and spend some time. First order of business in Old Town was lunch
Remind me to stick with the small margarita next time!
Old Town is sort of like a Sturbridge Village with a commercial twist. Check out Ye Olde Tinsmith with the daily special and my very favorite, the Wells Fargo museum with Ye Olde ATM!
Still it was fun time to walk around and I was quite fascinated by the Wells Fargo exhibit that showed their progress in number of cups of coffee and amount of coffee beans consumed. Nice little park in the middle
We rode the trolley back to our starting pont at the Hobart Mall and then made a quick trip to the Bargain Grocery Outlet for some basic provisions. We’re both too full for dinner so looking like a quiet night in and probably early to bed. Water is potentially off from 8-6 tomorrow because of water main work so best if we get up early and shower. Plan is to rent bikes and head for Coronado – should be great!
