A special treat!

We headed off for the Mercato Farmer’s Market in little Italy this morning and yes, another cloudless sky with temperature rapidly going into the 80s.

incredible farmer’s market covering about 4 blocks and just jammed with people. Mostly produce, fruits and food with some craft vendors as well. We picked up a few things and then took a stroll through the neighborhood. I got a kick out of these signs on tables in a little park

It’s a nice area but I have to say that Boston’s North End is still the winner for character.

We went back to the hotel to drop off packages and have a light lunch and then headed  to a neighborhood that looked interesting on the map. It was interesting; a mix of discount stores and wine bars. The next up and coming neighborhood I expect. Couple of trolleys and buses then took us to the Hillcrest neighborhood; the super upscale center of San Diego’s LGBT community. Check this out

Fantastic gelato and crepe place! Good thing we are walking a lot but I’m sure there will be some weight damage done on this trip! Poked around in a couple of bookstores and then headed back. I would absolutely spend more time in Hillcrest if  we got there earlier in the day and my feet weren’t so tired!

No great surprise, but a special treat as on the way back Alaska sent notification that our Sunday flight was cancelled. Another blizzard is ripping through Boston. We’ve certainly had winters with lots of snow but never anything this intense in such a short time period and with temperatures this low. We are very, very lucky to be out of there for a bit!

Back at hotel we changed to earliest available flight out – Tuesday and worked out arrangements with hotel. Now to plan another two days in paradise!

Here’s a typical cosy evening this trip for the old people. Bottle of wine, good movie, early to bed
