the long trip to Portland

Our final morning at Pebble Cove, we packed our bags and Tom took the food scraps down to feed the goats. We ran into this little guy who was very happy and chatty

Thanks to Matt and Lara, Tom and I hopped on an unloaded bike around 9 and rode into Orcas Village. There was one killer climb on the way but we made it just fine. Matt and Lara met us there with the bags and we sat out in the sun enjoying a coffee and bagels with smoked salmon until the ferry came.
Took the ferry to Friday Harbor and did our part for the jigsaw puzzles along the way

Here’s the view back to Orcas Village where you can see the winding road and climb out of town – the island’s welcome and  hint of the hills to come

Had a couple of hours to kill in Friday Harbor so Tom took the bike back and then I went and got sandwiches and coffee. Beautiful day to get sit on the dock and wait for the ferry. Unfortunately, ferry was late so we didn’t get to Anacortes til 3:30 and missed our SeaTac shuttle. Next one was at 5 so we just  hung out and waited for that. Rented a car at SeaTac and we were on the road around 8:30. Elizabeth picked us and I believe I was sound asleep about 2 seconds after my head hit the pillow!
